Ed Lawrence
Contract Recruiter
Lawrence Contract Recruiting Services, Inc.

I am often asked to describe the perfect profile of qualities and characteristics of an in-house senior recruiter.  There is no such thing! Aside from just good old-fashioned hard work, recruiting is more art than science and therefore can sustain little, if any, predictability -- a fundamental requirement for profiling.  There IS, however, a near-perfect profile for the position of senior corporate recruiter. What follows is a Job Description I have used over the years when building staffing teams at client companies. It has been gleaned from 'stuff' I picked up from client companies, numerous experiences, discussions, observations, and performance management coaching. It has been tested predictable and consistent, anecdotally, over many years of use.

It is not perfect but might be a good start if you need to hire an inside Corporate Recruiter and don't have a job description. Use wisely and freely.  I stole most of it from living the life of an observant recruiter, so I can't lay claim to any exclusivity!  Consider it still under construction and add your 2 cents worth then share it with me via a quick email message.
